Day 6

Day 6, St. Bart's, Thursday, February 27th, Sunny & Warm

Hey Everybody,

Today we woke up to a beautiful sunny and warm morning.  Had a later excursion, so we were able to go to Compass Rose for breakfast, just eggs and fruit salad.

This is a tender port so we went to the theatre to exchange our excursion slips for bus tickets.  We soon boarded the rocky tender for the pier.  Short ride, up and down the waves.

The harbor at St. Barths

This was a Panaromic Tour of St. Bart's.  There were 6 people to a mini van, however, 3 seats faced the front and 3 faced backwards.  We ended up facing backwards, the whole time, 1 1/2 hours of riding around on very narrow winding roads.  Not a fun excursion.

We saw a very short runway where vacationers land in St. Bart's.  We actually saw a plane going over our heads to land.  It was a very small plane, so no worries.

A plane coming into the airport

From there we saw some fancy hotels from a distance, beaches, a surfing beach, goats.

Sites around the island

We could not wait to get out of the minivan and head back to the Navigator.  Rich, unfortunately, got motion sickness from the darn minivan.  As soon as we left the tender we headed up to our cabin and he took a Bonine and had gingerale.  In about 30 minutes he felt a bit hungry and we went to the pool deck where he had carrot cake!  Go figure, did not know that was a cure.  I had a great Cuban sandwich.

Tonight we are dining at Prime 7 the steakhouse.  Then off to see the ship's production cast in Tuxedo.

At Prime 7:

Bev's salad

Rich's salad

Bev had lamb chops

Rich's Rib Eye steak

Rich's dessert

Until next time...

Day 5, Wednesday, February 26th, sailing to St. Bart's, sunny and warm.

Finally the seas are behaving.  We were able to do our 30 minute walk outside on the upper pool deck, blue skies, and lots of sun.

Being a sea day, we mostly relaxed and took pictures of the ship.

We dined in Compass Rose for all our meals.  Tomorrow we will dine in Prime 7, the steak house.  One needs reservations to dine there.

Rich' appetizer, vegetable patty with pepper coulius

We both had the cream corn chili soup

We both had beef stir fry

Bev had a frozen berry dessert

Rich had Malve pudding

We enjoyed a caipirinha (Brazilian drink made with limes) this afternoon in Galileo, which is located on deck 11 and overlooks the ocean.  They have a small seating area right outside of this lounge where we could watch the ships wake, my favorite part of cruising.

Out on our verandah today we finally saw some flying fish.  You have to be quick to spot them, as they fly so fast.  Also, saw a few birds but do not know what they were.

Tonight is the Block Party where the guests meet in the hallway, are served wine and greet fellow passengers.  The Cruise Director, General Manager, and Captain race through the halls greeting everyone.  It is a fun time.

The show tonight is a lady singer whom we have heard last year.  As I remember she is quite good and we will enjoy listening to her.

Following are a  few pictures of the ship:

Day 4, Rain, rain, go away

Tuesday, February 25th, sailing to St. Barts, rain, high winds, high seas.

Hey Everybody,

Today there are high winds, and lots of rain.  The ship has some movement, but not too bad.  We dined in Compass Rose for breakfast.  Rich had his waffles and I had French Toast.  The entrees were served hot.

We each had a fruit salad to start

Bev's French Toast

Rich's Waffles

This is a sea day so it was a relaxing day for us.  We headed to the Seven Seas Lounge to hear the lecturers.  The first one was about the Caribbean from the desitination specialist that gave the tallk.  It was interesting.  The second speaker was about Broadway.  We found it quite interesting.

We tried walking around to get in some steps, but with the ship rocking, it was a little challenging with other people milling about.  Did not get in many steps.

Next up was lunch, this certainly was a day to eat, we will regret this, I am sure.  Lunch was in Compass Rose as we prefer to be waited on.  We tried the Thai Chicken Curry and it was quite good.  While sitting at the table, waves were crashing against our window.  Scared me every time.  The dining room is on the 5th deck so you can imagine how high those waves were.

The afternoon was spent just doing nothing!  They have plenty of activities onboard, but we did not participate.

This evening was a formal one.  Rich wore his suit and left his tux at home.  I would have needed another  suitcase if he wanted to pack it.  There was a Captain Welcome Aboard Party, but we have been to so many, we passed on that and instead had a drink up in the Galileo lounge.  There were several people up there enjoying cocktails and snacks.

Back down to Compass Rose for dinner.  We had the Beijing duck and it was quite good, but not really authentic Chinese duck.  It was a very leisurely dinner which we prefer.

Bev's shrimp cocktail

Apple Cheese tart appitizer

We both had a mixed green salad

The Beijing duck we both had

Bevs Orange Chocolate Mousse cake

Rich's creme brulee

Another sea day tomorrow and then we will be at St. Barts.  Looking forward to finding some sun and heat.

Until next time...

Day 3 Boarding

Day 3 Monday, February 24 Miami Embarkation  Rain at Times, in the 70's

Breakfast at the hotel on Regent, then we boarded the bus for the 30 minute ride to the port.  It was raining at a pretty good clip.

We were onboard by 11:45, and were handed a glass  of champagne to start our adeventure.   We then headed up to the La Veranda for lunch. It is a buffet style and  had  many selections, unfortunately our arms were loaded with jackets, etc, and I couldn't take any pictures.

By 1:30 we were able to go to our cabin and start the unpacking.  This is such a small ship and that means the closet is super tiny.  Managed to get it all hung up, but 3 items on a hanger is not going to work well!  We will ask for extra hangers.

There was a function in one of the lounges for 1st time Regent cruisers.  We only went up there to get some pictures of us departing Miami.  But, we sat down and enjoyed the company of another couple.

Leaving Miami

The seas are a bit misbehaving, not super smooth, some rolling.

Dinner was in Compass Rose the main dining room.  The food was good, but Rich thought the beef portion was more diet-like!  His beef was teeny tiny!

Went to the Seven Seas Lounge where the Cruise Director gave us an idea of the lecturers topics sthat will be discussed in the coming days.  A film was then shown about the Amazon.  Very interesting to hear about how many species of monkeys, birds, ants, snakes, bugs, butterflies there are.

Sleepy time was next.

Until next time...

Day 23 Roseau, Dominica
